The Solution
In an effort to reduce their constantly increasing water and sewer bill from rising billing rates, the Chateau Tower Condominiums homeowners association near Tampa, Florida implemented the Smart Valve™ with the help of energy efficiency consulting services from Gone Green Earth.
After careful analysis of the plumbing distribution system in the complex, the Smart Valve™ was installed on the main domestic water line in about 2 hours in July of 2020. Savings averaging 16% was immediately realized on the first bill. All of this was accomplished without a change in water pressure being detected by the residents.
How It Works
The Smart Valve™ is an innovative patented product designed to improve water meter accuracy and achieve water conservation. Installation of the Smart Valve™ on the owner’s side of the meter reduces consumption readings, thereby lowering monthly water & sewer bills.
As faucets, showers, etc. are turned on and off, the pressure changes throughout the water distribution system. This pressure change allows air pockets contained in all water systems to expand and they are read by your meter. The Smart Valve™ is specially designed to maintain a constant backpressure at the meter preventing air pocket formation. As a result, water meter readings for non-volumetric applications will be reduced anywhere from 10 to 35%. Because the Smart Valve™ is the only device of its kind that is externally adjustable, the backpressure can be changed until maximum savings is achieved.
